EASB & Lionheart Game Design Studio competition in digital art and game design & development competition. 

Participation is open to applicants only in Singapore, to professionals, art / design-enthusiasts, and students.

Entry date: 10th October 2019 -  5th Nov 2019

Entry Age: Minimum 16 years & above. Entrants below 18 years old required to complete consent form by parents/guardians.

2019 Ultimate Digital Arts and Technology Battle Arena Competition for EIAM & Lionheart Game Design Studio: School of Design, Media & Arts 2019
 

I.

General provisions

1. This document lays down the terms and conditions applying to the EASB & Lionheart Game Design Studio SITEX digital competition, hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”. The terms and conditions are available on the website of the Competition and can be downloaded as a PDF file from the Contest tab on EASB website, Website URL: (Marketing to give)

2. The SITEX Competition for DIGITAL CONTEST is organized by the Faculty of EASB & Lionheart Game Design Studio at SINGAPORE EXPO HALL  5 and 6.

Address: 1 Expo Dr, Singapore 486150 , hereinafter referred to as the “ORGANISERS”.

3. The Contest event for SITEX is established in 2019.

4. The Contest event shall be divided into three contests:

a. Digital Art Champion 

b. Game Design Prototype 

c. Ultimate SpeedPainter 

5. Contestants can only submit entry to one contest.

6. The competition is targeted at students, designers & artists (hereinafter referred to as Contestants, or, where appropriate, the Contestant). There is an age limit for participation, and there is a restriction concerning the date of creation, production, previous presentation or publication of submitted works. It must be of the participants’ current works for submission. The Competition is open to individuals only, there is no group work submission.

7. The Competition is closed to family members of the Organisers, members of the management and authorities of the organizing institutions, and other parties linked to the Organisers through ties of employment and organizational hierarchy.

8. The Organisers reserve the right to pre-select submitted works based on their compliance with the formal requirements of the Competition. Disqualified works shall not be published or exhibited and their authors’ names shall not be made public.

9. By entering the Competition, Contestants consent to the terms and conditions herein outlined.

10. The submission of artworks is understood, specifically, as providing dedicated download links through the application form or sending the materials by mail services.

11. Registration and participation in the Competition is free.

12. No costs and expenses sustained by the Contestant in relation to the competition shall be reimbursed.

 

I(A).

      Contest Entries

1. This contest is organised by East Asia Institute of Management. (hereinafter referred to as the 'Organiser').

2. This Contest is open only to residents of Singapore or PRs, above 16 years old and contestants under 16 years old are prohibited from entering this contest. 

3. Entrants under the age of Eighteen (18) years old must seek parental and/or guardian consent before participating in the Contest.

3. The prizes for this contest are neither exchangeable for cash nor transferable.

4. All persons ('Contestants') taking part in this contest agree that these rules shall be binding on them and that the entries in this contest, including their name and likeness, may be used without restriction in any future publicity material by the Organiser.

5. All persons ('Contestants' & 'Winners') may be required to participate in a photo-taking session during and after the participation and issuance of the prizes. Pictures and artworks may be posted online or showcased for display purposes.

6. The Organiser reserves the right to amend these rules or terminate the contest at any time at its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the Organiser under these rules shall be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entertained. The Organiser may, but is not required to, justify any decisions relating to this contest.

7. The Contestant acknowledges that the interest and good reputation of the Organiser are of paramount importance. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify a Contestant from the contest or to withdraw the prize if it believes the Contestant is in breach of its obligations under the rules. The Contestant shall not by act or omission, directly or indirectly bring the Organiser into disrepute.

7. All entries are sent at the risk of the Contestant and in the event that there are technical difficulties experienced arising out of the internet or from any associated equipment or internet security is compromised, the Organiser may at its sole and absolute discretion disqualify the entire entry and shall not accept any liability doing so.

8. Contest entries may only be submitted via the stated medium of communication.

10. Each entry must be completed in full. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any incomplete entries in its sole and absolute discretion.

11. Contestants shall only submit one entry and multiple entries of the same shall be treated as 'spam' and shall be ignored.

12. Incomplete entries will be deemed void.

13. Entries will be judged by East Asia Institute of Management solely on the Concept, Execution and Creativity of idea(s) furnished and accuracy of personal details furnished with the judges' decision as final.

15. Uses of 'aliases' shall be considered a form of deception and are prohibited.

15. The winner must produce their original IC/passport with legible IC/passport number in order to claim the prize. The winner may also be required to produce additional original proof of identity at the discretion of the Organiser. 
17. All Prizes are accepted entirely at the risk of the winner, and the Organiser excludes all warranties in connection with the prize to the extent permitted by law.

Personal Information

18. All Contestants release from, and indemnify the Organiser, its agencies, sponsors and representatives against, all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize or participation in the contest including (but not limited to) personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.

20. Each individual participating to this Contest acknowledges that:
a. in respect of any Personal Information disclosed by the Contestant to the Organiser or obtained by the Organiser from The Contestant’s pursuant to this application:
The Contestant is authorised to disclose such Personal Information; such disclosure complies with any Privacy Legislation from any country, within the geographical scope of this competition, and the use of such Personal Information by the Organiser as contemplated by this application (including, without limitation, the disclosure of such Personal Information to East Asia Institute of Management‘s external agencies or third parties).

19. By entering the Contest, you agree:
a. to the use of your name and/or likeness, without compensation, for the Organiser’s promotional and marketing purposes; and
b. to the use of the information submitted on the contest entry form, without compensation, for the Organiser‘s promotional and marketing purposes.

20. By participating in this Contest, you are also consenting to receive eNewsletters and updates from East Asia Insitute of Management. You may choose to opt-out of receiving these updates at any time via the unsubscribe link attached to the email. By participating in this contest, you also accept the terms and conditions of this contest and agree to allow the Organiser to republish your work and photos on our website and social media channels and to participate in all promotional activities upon winning the prize.

 

Prizes

21. Prizes will be forfeited if not collected within a week from the day of announcement of winners. EASB Grant prizes will be forfeited if not registered within two weeks from the day of announcement of winners.

22. The winner/s will receive the prizes as stated in the contest page. 

10. Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or other items and may be subject to availability. The value of the prizes may vary; Organiser reserves the right to replace any prizes with items of similar value without prior notice.

14. Winners will be informed by email. The Organiser reserves the right to deal with all unclaimed prizes in any manner deemed fit.

14. Where applicable, prizes not collected shall be disposed of at the Organiser’s sole discretion. The Organiser’s decision regarding the award of all prizes, and/or in every situation including any not covered in these Terms and Conditions, shall be final and binding on all participants in the contest, and no queries, challenges or appeals may be made or entertained.

15. The receipt by any winner of any prize under this Contest is conditional upon compliance with any and all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

15. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute consent on the winner’s part to allow the use of the winner’s name, image, voice and/or likeness by the Organiser for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing and/or other purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute a release and discharge of East Asia Insitute of Management by each winner from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, and/or damages which the winner may have, whether known or unknown at the present time, of any nature whatsoever, arising out of or relating to: (i) the contest, (ii) personal injury and/or property damage, theft or loss suffered by the winner as a result of the use and/or enjoyment of the prize, and/or (iii) any tax liabilities in relation to the contest, prize and/or use or enjoyment of the same.

16. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Contest, the Organiser at its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement entrant should be selected. In this event, any further entrant will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to the Terms and Conditions.

Liability 

30. The Organiser will exercise care in handling the entries or Materials submitted but will not be liable for any loss of or damage to the entries or Materials howsoever caused. 

31. The Contestant shall assume all risks in respect of loss, injury, damage or liability which may arise as a result of or in connection to the Contestant’s participation in the Competition, and shall not hold the Organiser responsible in respect thereof except for liability which cannot be excluded by law.

32. The Contestant shall defend, fully indemnify and hold the Organiser and its employees and agents harmless from and against:

  1. All liabilities, damages, losses, costs (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis) and expenses arising from any claims, demands, actions, proceedings, judgment or execution which the Organiser, its employees or agents may suffer or incur from or in connection to the Contestant’s participation in the Competition; and 

  2. Any claims, demands, actions, proceedings, judgment or execution, arising from infringement or alleged infringement of any copyright or other intellectual property right or violation of confidentiality in the Materials produced, reproduced or submitted for the Competition.


 

II.

Objectives and Contest Rules

1. In order to participate in the Competition, Contestants must submit the Organisers the application form and the artwork OR game design required item in digital form, submitted to one or two sections of the competition. The artwork and the design project needs to be sent through separate application forms. They should conform to the following requirements of each of the categories:

 

b. Game Design & Development: Digital Game Prototype 2019( any of the following)

 

  1. A simple Storyboard/Moodboard for the game idea - JPEG

  2. Board game prototype - JPEG or youtube link

  3. A Game brief / description in a word pdf format for the idea (minimum 150 words)

  4. Video of their Game Prototype, showing an interactive 2D Platformer / side scroller playable video game (game develop needs to be playable on windows / mac PC), using Construct 2 or Construct 3 game engine. Video must contain 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay playthrough.

  5. Provide URL or direct link to download any of the items mentioned above (Google Drive / WeTransfer).

  6. Participants will submit their final entries by 5th Nov.

 

a. Entertainment Art: Digital Art Champion 2019

 

  1. An illustration showcasing the contest topic

    1. Including Drafts for the idea

    2. JPEG format not bigger than 2000 pixels on any side.

    3. Submission no bigger than 3MB

  2. Participants will submit their final entries by 5th Nov.

 

c. Ultimate SpeedPainter 2019

 

  1. A short video clip uploaded on youtube or other platforms with a link showcasing the artist’ work for the contest topic.

  2. The artwork saved in JPEG format not bigger than 2000 pixels on any side. 2MB max file size.

  3. Participants will submit their final entries by 5th Nov.


 

III.

Competition schedule

1. The competition is open from the moment of its online announcement, on 10 October 2019, until the results come in on 7th* November 2019. (*subject to changes)

2. Submitting the application form and the files – the form will be available online via EASB website insert URL here____________, from 10th Oct 2019 until 7th November 2019, 11.59 pm UTC (UTC+08:00). No works shall be accepted after the deadline.

3. Public announcement of qualified works – 7th November 2019

4. Public presentation and jury session – 28 November -1 December 2019

5. End of the competition, the announcement of the jury verdict, and exhibition opening – 28 November -1 December 2019

6. The results will be announced at the seat of the EASB & School of Design, Media & Arts, Lionheart Game Design Studio: in Singapore EXPO Hall at 28 November -1 December 2019 during the stipulated times found in the Schedule below.

 

IV.

Participation in the Competition

1. To participate in the Competition, Contestants need to register online by filling out an Application Form in the SUBMISSIONS tab on EASB official website by this date 10th October and before this date 5th November.

2. Application forms should be filled out and sent via the website; each Contestant has the right to submit 1 entry.

3. The application form should include download links for Organisers to access the Digital Artworks and/or Video footage submitted to the Competition.

4. By registering for the Competition, Contestants agree to their personal data being processed by the EASB and Lionheart GameDesign Studio for the purposes of the Competition. Detailed information about the data processing policy can be found in section VIII, entitled “Personal Data Protection”.

5. The Organisers shall notify only shortlisted Contestants who have applied via electronic means of the results by e-mail and announce the results online at / by this date  7th November, making the name of the author public in the customary manner.

By entering the Competition, the Contestant consents to the publication of his personal data in the way specified in the previous sentence for the purposes of announcing the results and winners of the Competition.

6. In the event that the Contestant or the submitted application do not meet the requirements outlined in these Terms and Conditions, the Digital Artwork or Game Design Prototype  shall be rejected and the Contestant shall be disqualified from the Competition and stripped of any right to an award.

7. Artworks and Game Design Prototype downloaded in the form of digital files, which fail to qualify for the Competition, will be erased from all media on which they have been saved by the Organisers for the purposes of the competition.

8. Contestants consent to their works being used in its entirety or modified versions for the purpose of marketing, promotion and listing in designated websites pertaining and/or including publications, interviews gallery feature showcase. (including through media outlets).


 

V.

Jury

1. The Organisers appoints these individual Jury: Names here Jim Ling, Remy Dantes, Aaron Lin & Luke Ng, as well as a tentative list of guest judges including:

  • Yanfei, Darius Cheong, Hang Kwong Lim, Karen Kong, Fernanders Sam. (Final panel of guest judges are subjected to changes to the discretion of Organisers.)

 

VI.

Prizes and their delivery

1. The following prizes which includes EASB School of Design, Media & Arts Grants will be handed out in the competition for Ultimate Digital Arts and Technology Battle Arena 2019 which also includes these prizes for the following contests:

 

EASB Scholarships & Grants for 30 finalists

 

Study Grant of 75% @$2500 for the Top 3 finalists of each category.

 

Study Grant of 65%@ $3500 for the rest of the finalists.

 

First 30 qualified applicants offered Specialist Diploma study grant of 50% @ $6000* excluding GST. (*Excluding Education Immersion Experience Package)

 

*All Study Grants are subject to eligibility criteria and minimum entry requirement to the selected programme. Education Immersion Experience Package as stated in the brochure.)

  • Opportunity to intern and work alongside the veterans on projects.

(The above mentioned are all subjected to contestants eligibility to enrol, suitability, requirements and also based on the final decisions of the organisers.)

 

E. The prizes are subjected to any unforeseen changes by the discretion of the sponsors or the organiser without prior notice to the public.

 

2. The authorised Organisers reserve the right to take screenshots, record the works in whole or in part in the form of a physical installation and to use such fragments for the purposes of information, marketing and promotion.

 

3. Provisions 1-2 apply to all submitted works except those disqualified from the Competition.

 

4. EASB Grant and its courses offered as prizes shall have the following terms and conditions for the winners:

  1. Applicants and Contestants must meet the minimum requirements into the various certificate programmes.

  2. Applicants and Contestants must meet the minimum age of 15 years old.

  3. Applicants and Contestants below the age of 18 years old must fill in the parental consent form provided by us and submitted together with the entry. Parental consent form here

  4. Courses offered at the programme fees as prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or any other goods in monetary value in any circumstances.

  5. EASB Grant prizes will be forfeited if not registered within two weeks from the day of announcement of winners.

  6. Course commencement is subjected to minimum class size;

    1. Failing which, EASB reserves the right to postpone the class intake.

    2. Students are required to fulfil the minimum class attendance.



 

VIII.

Personal data protection

1. Personal data collected from Contestants and winners shall be administered by East Asia Institute of Management & Lionheart Studio and adhered to the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

2. The personal data of Contestants and winners will be processed in order to organize and conduct the competition, and in the case of winners, for the purposes of taxation, if tax obligations apply, as well as marketing.

3. Personal data is provided voluntarily but is required for participation in the Competition.

4. The Organisers shall collect the following data from Contestants: first and last name, birth date, e-mail address, phone number, country / city of residence.

5. Contestants consent to their first and last names being used for the purposes of announcing the results of the competition (including through media outlets).

6. Contestants consent to their works being used in its entirety or modified versions for the purpose of marketing, promotion and listing in designated websites pertaining and/or including publications, interviews gallery feature showcase. (including through media outlets).

7. The Organisers declare that the personal data shall not be processed in an automated manner or subject to profiling.

8. Contestants’ data shall not be made available to external entities except in the cases specified in the relevant legal provisions.

9. Contestants’ data shall be stored for a period necessary to meet the above-specified objectives.

10. The Organisers shall take all the technical and organizational measures needed to safeguard the safety of the collected personal data, in accordance with relevant threat level and data category. The Organisers have implemented measures to ensure a safety level adequate to the risk, taking into account the advancement of technology, implementation costs, as well as the nature, scope, purpose and context of data processing and the threat to the rights and freedoms of natural persons of varying probability and importance. In particular, the Organisers shall take into account risks related to the accidental or illegal destruction, loss, modification or unauthorized disclosure of personal data, or unauthorized access to personal data that are sent, stored or otherwise processed.

 

IX.

Additional provisions

1. The collected personal data shall be used only in order to conduct the Competition, announce its results and deliver the awards.

2. The Organisers shall not be liable for any damage resulting from the provision of incorrect address or other personal data by the Contestant. 

3. The winner(s) shall not be entitled to change their awards for other prizes or demand that material prizes be exchanged for their equivalent in cash.

4. The Organisers shall not be liable for the quality and effects of services provided by telecommunications operators, postal services and other persons.

5. This is the only document specifying the terms and conditions of the 2019 Ultimate Digital Arts and Technology Battle Arena Competition.

6. Contestants cover all costs related to the presentation and submission of their project.

7. The Organizer may modify these Terms and Conditions at any time before the submission deadline, provided that the changes do not expand the scope of the Competition, reduce prize value or shorten the deadline.

8. In the event of unforeseen circumstances after the qualification stage, notifications will be sent to the Contestants accordingly.
